The Hong Kong Jewelry Design Competition winners were announced today and the finalists' pieces will be displayed at Asia's largest spring jewelry fair -- the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show from March 5 to 9. Organizers weighed designs from 240 entries categorized by two groups, the open group and the student group, both of which competed for top prizes under a "Glitter in Motion" contest theme.

Three entries from the open group category (pictured)  were given ''Best of Show'' awards, including Wong Suk Hing's "We will Dance," a luxurious and intricately designed glove. She also won the competition's Craftsmanship & Technology Award, which was sponsored by Chow Tai Fook Jewellery.  Ko Wut Ming won for a bracelet titled "Dragonflies' Symphony," sponsored by Jewel Arts Ltd., and Ho Kwan Po was awarded for  "Life," a delicate, seashell-styled pearl brooch that was sponsored by Luk Fook Holdings.

The three Best of Show winners will participate in a five-day jewelry design course in Japan, organized by Hiko Mizuno College of Jewellery.

In the student group, Pang Horng, who attends the Hong Kong Design Institute, won for the "Butterfly Dancing" ring. Cheung Shek Ching, from the Hong Kong Management Association, earned a first runner-up honor for "Endless River," a silver pendant with sapphires.
