During the last 10 years, Vietnam is known as one of the strong exporter of garment, Vietnamees clothes, shoes, bags etc. now can be found anywhere in the world. Next time you visit Adidas, Nikes, H&M,.. if you notice, you will see a lot of those are made in Vietnam. In recent years, heavy investment in agriculture has open new opportunities for exporting agricultural product. Fish, fruits (jack fruit, dragon fruit,..) or flower,.. are among the popular. Intel, Samsung and LG invested heavily in Vietnam too. Many Samsung and LG smartphone are now marked “made in Vietnam”.

A fun fact is that, big fashion brands like Zara are enjoying huge profit by contracting production with local companies and have those garment sold right at the local market, at same price as they are sold elsewhere.

Vietnam imports a wide range of product portfolio. Especially high tech products. Since local technology is still at low level. A huge amount of goods are imported from China. Our big neighbor has advantage on economy of scale, so we import even products we can produce domestically due to the low price. This happens especially with housewares and kitchenware, or even heavy industry like steel.
