    5G Launches In Asia Using Satellites

    The GSM Association (GSMA) predicts that by the end of 2025, Asia is expected to have 675 million 5G connections, accounting for more than 50% of global 5G networks. In the same year, SIM card connections will exceed the 4.8 billion benchmark in the Asia-Pacific region.



    5G infrastructure is expected to create huge demand, and telecom operators are accelerating and transforming it. Low-latency fast networks will encourage large-scale adoption of 5G technologies across Asian countries, such as the proliferation of the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence, and big data will drive the industry. Asia's focus is on the state-of-the-art mobile broadband network that reflects the growing value of the mobile ecosystem into the region's economic setting. Economists have confirmed that the mobile industry ’s economic growth in Asia last year was $ 1.5 trillion, equivalent to 5.4% of regional GDP.


    The entire Asian continent has experienced rapid migration to mobile broadband networks and smartphones, and it took 5 years to open up the mobile to 5G era. Mobile operators are upgrading their 4G infrastructure and launching 5G networks to accelerate the growth of Asia's digital economy and invest $ 200 billion in the coming years. It is estimated that the traffic of 5 billion users to 5G networks in 2024 will cover more than 40% of the world's population. Asia has undisputedly become a high-tech leader and has launched 5G scale. Among the high-tech members, like Japan, Singapore and China, are expected to develop rapidly in the 5G journey. 4G will remain Asia's next five years, accounting for 62% of the market share.



    Less high-tech enabled South Asian countries, such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, or will slowly adopt 5G adoption. Network operators in these countries have not recovered their investment in 4G. Therefore, the challenge for 5G allocation will start until the 4G market is saturated.


    Satellites will generally have a more prominent role in promoting 5G than previous mobile communication protocols such as 2G, 3G and 4G. 5G will be satellite-friendly and open new applications for satellites.


    In Asia, many countries today have mobile backhaul due to cost-effective satellite coverage. The tentacles of the 5G network played by satellites have played a key role in creating a packaged digital society in geographically distributed areas. Satellite technology is being upgraded, including the important work of adopting mobile services by connecting to the base station from the ground and other forms of non-remote areas. Broadband includes frequencies from 4 gigahertz (GHz) to 8 GHz, and is on the high-continent of Southeast Asia, where rain is essential for high demand. The spectrum issue involves not only the C-band but also the 28 GHz band, which is used in high-throughput satellite (HTS) systems.


    The mainland is expected to account for more than 50% of global 5G connections. Asia will need some more welcome and the right technology for 5G adoption.
